Earthquake In L’Aquila, Italy — See Imagery In Google Earth

Google Italy Team officially informed once again that, “the Italian region of Abruzzo was hit by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake. The epicenter of the quake was in L’Aquila, a town about 100km northeast of Rome”. Also 200 people may have lost their lives on that accident and which is entitled by recent news.


Google decided to share the IKONOS imagery and by downloading KML (drag an drop to google earth) file – you can see the location through Google Earth. Also you can see dedicated landing page which is created by Google Italy team. Moreover, they inputted links of Google news, Google Maps and as well some information about the earthquake and seismic activities and information about present fund-raising initiative activities and that’s really good approach, better support in this situations.

Google will frequently update the KML files when they will receive more recent satellite imagery from their commercial satellite partners. Google team also says, “Our hearts go out to the victims, their families, and the population that has been affected by this tragedy”. We also praying for them and inshallah everything will be fine and goes to normal.
