Google Checkout threatens eBay/PayPal’s monopoly-Try it now
Interestingly, yet not suprisingly, eBay has added Google Checkout to its list of banned payment methods.
According to their policy, eBay puts all new and untested payment services on the banned payment methods list until further examination, but I think we all know the reason for this..
Google Checkout threatens eBay/PayPal’s monopoly, and it threatens their ridiculous fee structure. (On top of having to pay listing fees and final auction value fees, paypal charges a % of whatever payment the buyer sends the seller).
Honestly, it’s about time google did this. They should threaten ebay with a lawsuit for anti-competitive practices, and then later set up their own auction site.. ![]()
auctions.google.com, perhaps?
Or better yet, ban ebay auctions from appearing in google search results.. Then we’d see who needs who.

I was selling on ebay, and got hooked into the ebay/paypal scam and monopoly. Ebay is a rip off and so is paypal. Ebay has brainwashed everyone into thinking that Paypal is safe and secure, but it is not. Only for the buyer is it safe and secure. The sellers have 0% protection against fraud or chargebacks. I now sell on Amazon and there is no bull with anything. They have their own checkout system, and everything runs smoothly. One thing about Amazon is they now do not release funds to the seller until the item is confirmed delivered. Thats OK with me, but will hurt people that sell with a dropship company as sometimes they need the funds beforehand so they can pay for the items to get them to their buyers.
Just stay away from ebay and paypal altogether.
EBAY IS A THING OF THE PAST!!

By the way, that is absolutely correct in that ebay does not allow Google Checkout beause they make no money from transactions. I integrated my merchant account with my ebay account, and this is ebay’s shady way of trying to force me into using paypal:
They blocked my ebay account and sent me a message saying that the paypal account linked to my ebay account needs to be verified. They want my SS# and receipts for everything I am selling on ebay. Then they tried to tell me that paypal is safe and secure.
I NEVER opened a paypal account, however they told me that I should use them to accept payments anyhow, and that until I provided them the information they request, my ebay account would remain blocked.
What a scam!! And a monopoly!!
I refuse to give them this information.
Check out Paypal on the Better Business Bureau Website
They have 7,007 complaints against them so far this year.
Also check out ebay there as well. Thousands of complaints for them as well, and how the hell is it that both companies have an A rating????
This is mind boggling.
Like I said, I sell on Amazon.com (http://www.amazon.com/shops/vintagecameraco) and on ecrater.com.
ecrater is gaining alot of traffic and is good for unique items, where as Amazon is a little slow on traffic for what I am selling, being Amazon does not allow me to list vintage cameras in the camera category because there is no UPC number for them, so I have to list them in “Everything Else” and it is harder for buyers to find them. Amazon is a little more expensive than ebay, but with less heartache, and not a single scammer to be found. Nigerian IP addresses are banned from using Amazon.com.
Ebay is going to soon be a thing of the past.
They are going to copy Amazon’s venue and no longer offer auction formats for sellers as a last ditch effort to save the company, and if that does not work, it’s all over for the greedy corrupt giant.

It would be a great relief to have an alternative to Paypal’s seemingly unchallengeable dominance.

I agree. I find it so frustrating that my payments from customers are held for two to three weeks after I’ve sent the items to the winning bidders. It’s not fair that ebay and PayPal make interest on MY money. Not to mention that many of my longtime buyers no longer use ebay b/c they do not trust PayPal. And with good reason – I, personally, had my credit card info compromised via PayPal.
Come on, Google – build an auction site!

Great stuff. Perhaps a little off topic, but would you mind if I write something about this on my acai scam blog? I will of course, cite original source and link back to your page.
