Jagriti-The Techfest In Rkgit
Friends,
Jagriti as a techfest bestowed us with many good blessings. “Shrinking the technological cosmos!†has achieved its true meaning and implementation after Jagriti only.
Jagriti begin as a sincere effort by the college students and now has become an epitome of success with the statistics beating all the records. Jagriti consisted of 26 technical events of national level attracting more than 50 colleges. These events put on test the knowledge of participants from all engineering streams. Along with the technical side, the cultural side was well handled by the SKYFEST.
The academicians and field experts along with the media was impressed by this great effort towards shrinking the technological cosmos.
The end of Jagriti marked a new beginning for our college. It gave the students their role model and induced a never-before interaction among the juniors and seniors. Many students found their way in this fest by meeting their respective stream experts. To sum up the fruits bore of the Jagriti for the students of RKGIT could never be turned to words.
Here is an small attempt to enlist some of them:
LINUX WORKSHOP :
Jagriti showed us the need to share the knowledge with our colleagues and rest of the world. LINUX workshop was one step in this direction. It equips students to roam in the open world of open source. The workshop also quenches the curiosity thirst of students by organizing various workshops on hacking, blogging etc
ANIMATION WORKSHOP:
3 D animation workshop was provided a great boost up by JAGRITI .The plant whose seeds were sown a year ago now started maturing up with weekly workshops in which students were given space to expand their imaginations and implement it via animation skills in a creative manner. The team of Animation Club works even after hours and labors to provide good training to the students.
PULSE – THE BAND:
Jagriti witnessed the formation of the official college band PULSE after their thrilling performance during the SKYFEST. The Band members consist of students from all years and truly represent a amalgamation of talent of all sorts.
COMPUTER SOCIETY OF INDIA( RKGIT Student Chapter):
Jagriti began with the inauguration of student chapter of CSI in RKGIT.CSI is an esteemed organization of Computer professionals, academicians and students across the country which provides a nation wide platform to the students for showing their talent. Students from all streams of engineering have eagerly joined the RKGIT – Student Chapter of CSI. This student chapter has led the students to pool their efforts and be in sync with the latest advances in their fields all over the nation.
Thus, JAGRITI showed us a new path and enlightened our vision. It showed us new vistas of opportunities & the path to tread on.

Where there is the necessary technical skill to move mountains, there is no need for the faith that moves mountains.
If these words of the legendary Eric Hoffer inspire you, then do come over this year to IIT Kanpur to witness Transforming Thoughts in their truest sense as we proudly present to you Techkriti ’09, the annual science and technology festival of IIT Kanpur.
Techkriti ’09 essentially finds its inspiration in the success of Techkriti ’08 which played host to a lot of events, attracting students from every technological branch there is. International programming and hacking competitions and the software corner challenged the computer-addicted while those inclined towards “physical” machinery found solace in Gearloose, Endeavour and Robogames. Circuit design and Ham were other major attractions. These apart, the Bio-business plan contest, Olymbiz, Scimatex and various quizzes kept the scientifically inclined on their toes.
Apart from hosting all these events with greater zest, Techkriti ’09 also brings forth new challenges in science and Technology, challenging you to think of the most convoluted way to perform a simple task in Rube Goldberg, make working models out of utter junk in Junkyard Wars and strike a balance between safety, economy and strength in the Spaghetti Bridge Design Challenge.
With a view of exposing the country’s brightest budding minds to the works of the greatest scientists and technocrats in the world, Techkriti ’09 will proudly play host to the following great minds, among others:
• Professor Martin L.Perl (Nobel Prize in Physics, ’95 for his work on lepton physics)
• Prof Hod Lipson (Associate Professor, Cornell University, currently working on the evolution of robots)
• Prof Peter Naur (Turing Award winner, responsible for the BNF notation in programming and one of the fathers of the ALGOL 60 language)
• Prof Edmund Clarke (FORE systems professor, Carnegie Mellon University)
This, my friends, is only the tip of the iceberg. So come over from 12th to 15th of February ,2009 and exercise your right to be bright.
