Facebook – The Most Searched Brand In US

Facebook seems to be overtaking Google in many areas, we initially saw Facebook became the Biggest Site In United States overtaking Google and now it is the most searched brand in US, which was Google earlier. According to Hitwise statistics the term “Facebook” is the trendiest among famous web-related brands for search engine queries starting from the United States. Pulling data from all chief search providers, the Hitwise report says that the word “Facebook” has been found most times among other terms in the root of search queries.

The Top Ten Search Brands statistics explains, Facebook achieved a 2.80% search query share, in comparison with Google’s 2.40%. That’s 16% more than for the Mountain View-based company. On number 3 we have Yahoo holding 1.60% and 4^th place goes to Craigslist with 1.10%. Also interesting to note is that Amazon being a great brand in itself just has 0.10% of search query. However it is quite surprising to note that Twitter is no where in the list of Top 10.

Overtaking Google is obviously great news for Facebook as by now Google has great services such as Maps, Docs, Apps, Translate, News etc. Another interesting fact exposed by the Hitwise report is that the firm registered 10,673 unique variations on the “Facebook” root term over the past week alone.
