Facebook birthday

Facebook turned six this Friday and on this eventful birthday CEO had some very interesting message to share. Founder Mark Zuckerberg has posted a hopeful message on how vital social network is and how many lives have irretrievably changed, of course for better. One important message he shared with us is that Facebook has now reached 400 Million users exceeding the last numbers of 350 million. And no doubts 500 million number is just around the corner.

Mark Zuckerberg writes -

Facebook began six years ago today as a product that my roommates and I built to help people around us connect easily, share information and understand one another better. We hoped Facebook would improve people’s lives in important ways. So it’s rewarding to see that as Facebook has grown, people around the world are using the service to share information about events big and small and to stay connected to everyone they care about.

Meanwhile, Facebook celebrates its birthday at the Facebook Headquarters, with release of handful of new things that would improve people’s Facebook experience, including a couple that people have requested a lot. Facebook is for sure at the completely different level when compared to other big social networks such as MySpace, hi5, Twitter, LinkedIn etc., put together. And if the current trend goes on, it’s going to become the biggest web site on the planet, overtaking Microsoft, Yahoo and even Google sites, in the not so distant future.
