Near me Now Google’s “Near Me Now Search Option Is Now Live

A month back Google came up with real-time search option called “Near Me Now” and today it went live for Android-based phones and iPhone. For now Google has added a button to its mobile homepage, tagged – “near me now” and this feature will let you search for any query in your nearby location. Just by clicking on the link on mobile homepage, you would locate categories of places. If you looking for more options then select, “browse more categories” link.

John Eric Hoffman and Jussi Myllymaki, Google Mobile Engineering wrote -

Near me now” was designed to address two user problems. First, we wanted to make it fast and easy to find out more about a place in your immediate vicinity, whether you’re standing right in front of a business or if it’s just a short walk away.

Second, we wanted to make searching for popular categories of nearby places really simple. Imagine that you emerge from the subway station and you want to grab a coffee, but you don’t see a coffee shop around you. You can simply search for all nearby coffee shops by using “Near me now

To use this feature, ensure that the location feature of your iPhone, Nexus One or other Android phones is activated. Then visit google.com your phone’s browser and you can easily spot the “Near me now” tab. Unfortunately, it is available only in US for now and we hope it hit other places soon.
