Google docs preview 300x208 Google Docs Preview Now With Gmail LabsGoogle docs have been around for quite some time now and it is simple and straightforward to use. There are many tools available on docs to make your working time effective and at the latest addition we have Google Docs Preview. This new tool is made available for Labs users under Settings and would let users to view attachments from Google Docs inside Gmail below the email.

Note – This works only for documents from Google Docs, which means you would not be able to preview attachments emailed, yet the HTML preview is already available. Gmail would spot if an attachment is from Docs and would notify you the link for viewing its contents without navigating to a new page.

Steven Saviano, a software engineer at Google, wrote in the Blog -

“Being an avid Google Docs user, I receive a ton of emails with links to documents that my co-workers and friends share with me. From technical design documents at work to my roommate’s expenses spreadsheet, my inbox is full of document links that I need to view as I reply to my mail, “Starting today, you can preview the contents of a Google document, spreadsheet, or presentation right in your Gmail inbox.”

This new feature might be a small change but certainly great for saving time when getting links from Google Docs from friends, colleagues and other group.
