Google To Share Facts About Comment Spam

Comment SpamThe biggest problem in web industry is spam at the moment, and in spite of countless measures taken, it’s not likely to go away some time now. Although Google does carry several methods of countering spam, for Gmail and web in general, which it claims to be pretty good, yet we don’t see to put off spammers. So Google wants us to take some extra steps to get rid of it. Recently Google focused on comment spam, particularly on what it takes to tackle the trouble and what webmasters could do to prevent it. We may not find the exactly revolutionary, yet there are couple of things that can certainly help.

Comments can be a really good source of information and an efficient way of engaging a site’s users in discussions. This valuable content should not be replaced by gibberish nonsense keywords and links. For this reason there are many ways of securing your application and disincentivizing spammers.

  • Disallow anonymous posting.
  • Use CAPTCHAs and other methods to prevent automated comment spamming.
  • Turn on comment moderation.
  • Use the “nofollow” attribute for links in the comment field.
  • Disallow hyperlinks in comments.
  • Block comment pages using robots.txt or meta tags.

Likewise there are handful of tips posted that can be utilized to keep spammer at bay!
