Opera Software Acquires FastMail.FM
FastMail.FM has been providing email accounts for 10 years to the world’s most demanding users. Opera on the other hand is the oldest browser manufacturers in world, while Opera might not be doing extremely well on the desktop side; it managed pretty well on the mobile browser side. Opera was recently also announced as the fastest browser for Mac and now it acquired FastMail.FM which is an Australian email provider. This is the second acquisition for Opera and sounds great for both the parties.
FastMail.FM’s Rob Mueller on the blog wrote
Some exciting changes will be occurring with FastMail.FM. FastMail.FM has been acquired by Opera Software, the developers of the Opera web browser,
This is great news for FastMail.FM users. FastMail.FM will continue to run and grow as the reliable email service you’ve known for over 10 years. We’ll be combining forces with Opera’s technical teams, expertise and products to develop new and innovative products, he added
For present FastMail.FM users, nothing changes and they can continue working with it. The FastMail.FM group would further start working with Opera and some employees will also move to Norway as part of the acquisition. Opera or FastMail.FM has not disclosed any details on the financial side and it is not even clear about what Opera is planning to do with email service.
