Russia.com Sold for $1.5 MillionThe right domain does carry the ability to make or break the business and it can be a boon to over all website success. This is why sometimes domain names get large sum of money and why the ones paying them yet benefit in the long term. The latest huge transaction in the industry took place was the sale of the Russia.com domain name for a large $1.5 million according to Quitura blog.

The domain name was sold via Sedo, which is a market place for taking such transaction. The buyer was however not disclosed, but this is regarded as one of the largest deal of the year. Russia.com was owned by NewMedia Holdings Inc., which licensed it to Paley Media, a group which carries many sites having to do with country names. The site itself was launched in 1995 and since 2004 has been offering general travel information for the country same to the way Paley Media operates sites like Algeria.com, Morocco.com, PuertoRico.com, SouthAfrica.com, Scotland.com, Ukraine.com, and others.

But the industry has seen even bigger deal that this like Insure.com was sold for $16 million, which was one of the biggest figures in domain name sales history.
