Seems like Google is trying hard to perk up each of its products and service – be it YouTube or Google News. We recently saw Fast Flip option in Google News, which was indeed an interesting update and the giant say all your interesting news stories can to be “starred”, just like Google Reader or Gmail, so that it could be saved and read later in Starred section as per users convenience.

Today, we are giving users even more options for following stories. Users can mark a story cluster by clicking on the star next to it, like they can with messages in Gmail and items in Google Reader. When you star a story in Google News, it’s one way to let us know that you’re interested in that subject. When there are significant updates, we will alert you by putting the headline in bold so you can get more information. You can also follow your 20 most recent starred stories in the “Starred” section of Google News.

This potential feature was actually overdue and was in demand by users. Even if the process is overall simple, the limit of 20 stories could be a bit small for some active Google News users. We hope to this would be fixed in near future.
