Twitter Reach 75 Million Users But Only 17% Active

Our favorite microblogging service is amazing and is also reaching more and more people each day. But in spite of several measures and interesting features brought up, Twitter is unable to grab highly involved/addicted Twitter users. A research firm from online metrics company RJMetrics came up with an surprising data saying that Twitter now has 75 million users worldwide, of course not a bad number in a short span of time, but depressing thing is that out of which only 17 percent users are active on the service.

RJMetrics stated -

Analyzing Twitter is like a roller coaster ride:

When you look at new account registrations, no one can deny that Twitter is still growing like a rocketship (that’s good). However, upon closer inspection, the rate of new user signups has dropped meaningfully from its peak and many new users never do anything with their accounts (that’s bad). Furthermore, the percentage of accounts sending out tweets has steadily declined over the past six months (that’s worse).

The study also explained that about 25% of accounts had no followers, further 40% have never sent any tweet and 80% have sent fewer tweet than ten so far. In total, only about 17% of all users are active.
