Many of you watch online videos or movies to refresh yourself or for timepass but sometimes situation comes when your browser starts getting crashes, what you do, any solution? Usually, there is no solution and many folks have to play that video again. Isn’t it annoy you? There is a fabulous add-on for Firefox called PlayLink. This add-on takes video what you are playing in your browser and it links to another browser of your choice or a desktop media player of your choice.

All you need is to download PlayLink and once you downloaded this add-on you have to access settings in the Add-ons menu for Firefox. In configuration option you have to specify the specific browsers and desktop media applications that appear in PlayLink’s menu because this menu will be shown up when you right click on a media link. There are two tabs at the top of the options menu one for browser and one for media applications.

As soon as you choose the programs you want to send your media links you are ready to use PlayLink. Now you can search for any music link on internet (it could be mp3 or YouTube video) just right click on it. By using this you can also send the video song to VLC, Windows Media Player or any number of favorite programs.

Did you find this useful? Then why not enjoy this freedom and let us know your feedback in comment section.

Private browsing was introduced to in Firefox 3.5, which allowed users to browse privately without keep the web history. This is quite common feature these days and also servers a very useful purpose. Now it would be interesting to know how people actually use Private browsing in Firefox.. Using the Test Pilot add-on, Mozilla researchers were able to establish that there are a few moments during the day when more people use Private Browsing.

According to Mozilla Blog of Metrics -

Private Browsing was introduced in Firefox 3.5, giving users the option of browsing the web without keeping track of their history. A recent Test Pilot study recorded – among other things – the time users activated Private Browsing, and the time they deactivated it. Though what happens in Private Browsing stays in Private Private Browsing – that is, neither Firefox nor Test Pilot records anything during the period – we did learn a few things about timing and duration. Here are a few simple insights we’ve gleaned from the data.

Mozilla highlights the fact that no data was actually recorded during Private Browsing. Test Pilot enables users to combine various experiments and surveys Mozilla is holding. It is completely opt-in and the users are in control of the data collected and submitted.

Further from the study, Mozilla discovered that there are many times during the day when users activate this interesting feature. The first and biggest spike is during the lunch break, between 11 AM and 2 PM, when most people go into Private Browsing.

This makes sense, being at work, users may desire to do a bit of personal browsing during their breaks, for example to check out Facebook and the likes, without leaving too many traces. When they do activate Private Browsing, most people do not use it for that long, 10 minutes seems to be the decent spot. .

The 25th percentile stays on for about 4 and a half minutes, the 75th percentile around 22 minutes, and the median stays in for about 10 minutes. This trend appears to hold over the entire course of the day, with the notable exception of 5pm,” Mozilla explained.

Google Chrome has truly come a very long way since its inception. Today Chrome is several times faster, boasts loads of new features and also entering in competition with Firefox when it comes to Extensions. Chrome came up with the idea of extensions in late last year, which was the most wanted feature by users. Many users are still afraid to switch from Firefox to Chrome because of less add-on comparatively. But it goes without saying that ever since Chrome introduced extension support, its users are as eager as anyone to add new features to the browser. Now when the Google Chrome extension is more than 6 months old and is growing steadily it would be a nice idea to review which add-on are more popular among users. With that in mind, honeytechblog did a latest review (to date) on Top 10 Google Chrome Extensions.

1. Adblock

1,208,268 users – Weekly installs: 116,962

Your favorite feature in Firefox finally comes to Chrome! Block all advertisements on all web pages. Your browser is automatically updated with additions to the filter: just click Install, then visit your favorite website and see the ads disappear.

2. Google Mail Checker

650,543 users – Weekly installs: 47,547

Displays the number of unread messages in your Google Mail inbox. You can also click the button to open your inbox

3. IE Tab

486,512 users – Weekly installs: 41,069

Use Internet Explorer to display web pages in a Chrome tab. Some sites can only be displayed using IE, and with this extension you can now see those sites without leaving Chrome.
407,320 users – Weekly installs: 32,652

Access the Downloads window directly from the toolbar. Quickly access the downloads window by clicking the icon instead of taking the “long way” (Tools/Downloads). Very useful for those who download a lot.

9. Cooliris

348,990 users – Weekly installs: 37,845

Cooliris transforms your browser into a full-screen 3D Wall for searching, viewing and sharing the Web. This version of Cooliris works on Windows. Linux and Mac versions coming soon. Chrome will display a warning when you install any extension that includes a plugin. The Cooliris extension includes a plugin that requires access to your graphics card in order to render the high-performance 3D Wall.

10. Google Mail Checker Plus

302,429 users – Weekly installs: 23,878

Displays the number of unread messages in your Gmail and Google Apps inbox. Preview mail, read, delete, archive and mark as spam! 10 different icon sets, choose your favorite! Mail preview window, read mail without leaving the current tab. Delete, archive, spam, star and mark as read functionality. Desktop and sound notifications when new mail arrives. Google Apps For Your Domain support and more.

When it comes to Firefox extensions there are two drawbacks, one is hard to pick few best ones from the lot and other drawback is that some of the add-ons are created, but has no use and many are not updated so will not work with latest edition of Firefox. Well, it’s not the same in case of Chrome, as it carry less add-ons for now and are of great use.

Easier the compare with the usage numbers. Firefox possess more than two billion add-on downloads to date. The browser is five year old, Chrome’s most popular extension is used by 1.1 million people and gets 113,000 plus new downloads every week. The most popular add-on for Firefox gets about 884,000 downloads every week. It has been downloaded by 89 plus million people. So it looks like, scale wise, Chrome still has a lot of catching up to do.

Many users just rely upon Facebook to keep in touch with friends, family and work. Newer services like Twitter and FriendFeed are yet to reach many people. But of late we have seen many users complaining about their Facebook account getting deleted, so obviously all our valuable data are at risk. What if Facebook account gets deleted? And you wanted to have a backup of data elsewhere? With much advancement each day to Facebook it is still difficult to perform this task. But this problem gets solved for Firefox users.

A simple way to back up and achieve all your data is ArchiveFacebook. This is a free tool that allows you to save content from your Facebook account directly to your hard drive. If you are using any other browser then you will have to use extension by installing Firefox so as to backup data and it can be uninstalled later.

Currently ArchiveFacebook can save your:

Photos

Messages

Activity Stream

Friends List

Notes

Events

Groups

Info

All you need to do

If you are Scrapbook Firefox Extension users then you would have to uninstall it as both cannot be run simultaneously

Then get a Facebook vanity URL for your account as ArchiveFacebook does not work without it. Once you log in with username you are set for further.

Now you can install Archive Facebook extension from your add-on gallery. Just visit the page and click on download.

Once the installation is done you should see a new menu item “ArchiveFB” in Firefox between the Bookmarks and the Tools menu.

Select ArchiveFB –> Archive from the main menu.

Have patients. It will take several minutes to an hour to archive your account depending on the amount of content to be archived.

When the archiving has completed, you will see a “Facebook” menu option added to the ArchiveFacebook menu. Select this option to view your archived account.

ArchiveFB will store your Facebook date copy within your browser Firefox; you can find ArchiveFB folder automatically generated in your browser profile folder where your data is stored. In case you use different browser then go to Tools > Options > Organize tab and specify the location where you needs the data to be stored. You might have also tried SocialSafe that offers the similar service at $2.99, however ArchiveFacebook is a better option because it is free of cost and can be used right from your browse.

Firefox has always impressed it’s user with add-ons and this is certainly a great addition, go give it a try now and back up all your imperative data!

Even, lots of browser developing extending this add-ons features such as Flock browser.

Maximum extensions are superbly working in firefox environment and developing frequentely to giving a stable versions to the firefox users. Even, I’m always using scribefire, alexa sparky, twitterfox, two column based google engine creator and delicius and some seo type add-ons. But, I’m entrying to enlist some non-productive extentions — that you shouldn’t use.

The people who are behind the firefox web browser they have been thinking for a long time — how the browser will handle tabs in future. The discussion mainly centralized in “when you’re opening a new tab, is it blank screen, or showing rss feed updates”. Also a list of frequently visited pages and one developers novel idea “if firefox didn’t have any tabs at all? What it will be?

Oliver Reichenstein says browser tabs worked well back when we’d only have a few web pages open at a time. Now that it’s not uncommon for users to have a dozen or more tabs, it’s increasingly difficult to tell what’s going on in the browser tab bar or find the tab you’re looking for

Oliver Reichenstein has created a mockup firefox version which looks like iTunes and you can make tags per web pages, easy to sort out by search engine, category pages and so on options.

However, it’s really interesting and common browser tab will be hopefully launch in firefox 3.5. Lets see in future.

For example
If a site have PR4 one text link cost $7-20 / month depends on the (quality of the content)
You know some time a high traffic websites have a low value of google page rank and high alexa rank due to improper SEO and tricks.

Here i have few tools for firefox like Alexa Sparky and SearchStatus

One way Sparky is a Firefox browser addon by Alexa, that accompanies you as you surf, providing useful information about the sites you visit without interrupting your Web browsing.
Secondly bo the Sparky and SearchStatus contribute to our websites Alexa ranking but later addon comes with extra feature of google page rank also.So SearchStatus is recommended.
So don’t be late to
Download Sparky
Download SearchStatus
If you have more queries regarding alexa ranks and google page ranks then please feel free to discuss here.
