Google’s Gmail Labs brings another one splendid features, without opening a new tab in your browser you can search for a query directly inside your Gmail and as well in your messages area you can directly copy and paste or alternatively drag&drop links to messages area. Whenever you need to share any information, you might don’t know the critical url or have approximate idea, you can try this options to get accurate links from Google engine.

“The feature is useful for navigational searches, when the top result is usually the best answer and it’s not necessary to click on the result. Gmail should extend the dialog for creating links with the option to pick from search results. Maybe a future iteration of the Gmail Labs mod will include results from specialized search engines: images, videos, local businesses, maps, products etc. The samples that are available for Google AJAX Search API illustrate some other potential uses for clipping search results” – says Alex. If you wants to enable this new labs, you have to settings and Labs tab and search “Google search”, enable it and finally save it. It will be visible in action within a few minutes.

Gmail is recently experiencing outage and account inaccessibility. Is happens from time to time and Google has not yet addressed it until now. Update: Google is continuously working on project “chrome” and come up with some new features. I wish to remove this point after extensions updates in the Chrome final release. Official Gmail themes

Till now we used so many scripts and extension to beautify the Gmail contour.Greasemonkey is quite famous in geeks for these scriptious works.Good news is that Google recently launched the official version of Gmail themes and skins.It have wide variety of colors and themed flavors.

In an official post on Google blog it says
“We wanted to go beyond simple color customization, so out of the 30 odd themes we’re launching today, there’s a shiny theme with chrome styling, another one that turns your inbox into a retro notepad, nature themes that change scenery over time, weather driven themes that can rain on your mailbox, and fun characters to keep you in good company. There’s even an old school ascii theme (Terminal) which was the result of a bet between two engineers — it’s not exactly practical, but it’s great for testing out your geek cred. We’ve also done a minor facelift to Gmail’s default look to make it crisper and cleaner — you might notice a few colors and pixels shifted around here and there.”

How to activate Gmail Themes?

In order to activate these theme you have to go to the Themes tab under Settings. (Settings>Themes>).

I would like to develop some themes for the Gmail incase i’ll get the chance for serving.If anyone else is interested in this i can also make a portals for some unofficial themes.

Note:I haven’t study on the CSS and theme code of the gmail but it won’t be too hard to understand.

Are you receiving someone else’s mail

Today i get a mail that doesn’t belongs to me (i.e mail id doesn’t belong to me).When i google for the possible reasons then found that there are three usual reasons why Gmail users may receive others mails.Basically this is due to the fact that when you created a mail id then their are certain clause that Gmail doesn’t allow others to register similar mails,yoy may get blind carbon copy of the mail or you are the victim of spammers.All the reasons are described as follows :-

Might be your address is similar but has more or fewer dots (.) or different capitalization.

Their is possibility that you may receive a message intended for someone whose address resembles yours but has a different number or placement of dots

Examples

Your Main ID yourusername@gmail.com but you get mail as your.username@gmail.com or Your.user.name@gmail.com

Note: Messages sent to yourusername@gmail.com, your.username@gmail.com, andy.o.u.r.u.s.e.r.n.a.m.e@gmail.com are all delivered to your inbox, and only yours. [source google Help center

Might be your address isn’t listed in the mail you received.

Their is possibility that you may get a blank id mail ie the sender has mailed you a ‘blind carbon copy,’ or Bcc:. If it happened with you then this means that you won’t see your email address at the top of any message and probably you receive as a blind carbon copy.

Might be you’re receiving spam that’s not addressed to you and you are a victim of dictionary spamming.

Their is probability of getting victim of spam mail (every one of us are victim of spam’s,may be once at least).The is common practice of spammers to send mails with the help of software’s and applications that uses different algorithms to randomly guess email addresses based on words in the dictionary.These types of spam’s are known as Dictionary spamming and hence spammers know as Dictionary spammers.

Today i noticed and awesome security feature of accounts logs at the bottom of my account.This features shows the account activity in past hours ie it provides information about the last activity on this mail account and any concurrent activity.You just have to click the Details link next to the Last account activity line at the bottom of any Gmail page and it will shows information and all the logs about recent activity in your mail.This includes logs of any times that your mail was accessed, using a regular web browser, through a POP client, from a mobile device, etc.It also shows the detail list of the IP address from which the access was made, as well as the time and date.

What is the benefit of Account Activity feature?

You may saw your activity logs regularly or occasionally and with the information of time and IP used you may easily traced if someone else uses your account.For example from the info of Access Type column if it show any unusual access? or shows use by any mobile device,pop which you haven’t use, So with out wasting any time you can easily change your password and security question.Moreover If your mail is currently being accessed from another location, we’ll list the other session(s) in the Concurrent session information table.If you want you can easily sign out all sessions other than your current session by clicking Sign out all other sessions
