Apple iOS 5 Unveiled and Features Explained

Apples iOS 5 is the latest mobile operating system from Apple. The latest OS promises to have over 200 new features. These features can be used to enhance your experience with iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. According to their website, the following are only some of the interesting new features that are available with iOS 5:

Interesting Features of Apple iOS 5 :

Notification Center : This feature will ensure that you get all your notification in your iOS devices. This will include all kinds of notification including emails, texts, friends requests, stock ticker, current weather and so on. To use the feature:

Swipe down the top of the screen to enter Notification Center.
Choose the notifications you want updates.
New notifications will display on the top of your screen.

iMessage : This is a new messaging service between supported Apple devices. It provides unlimited text messages using Wi-Fi or 2G. It provides options to send individual messages, group messages, photos, videos, contact details and location details. It ensures the messages are secure using encryption. It gives you the option to continue the same conversations from different devices.

Newsstand : This feature will help you keep stead with all the latest information. Your newspaper and magazine subscriptions are organized by this feature to ensure that your favourity publications are easily accessible. New and updates to the list of subscribed functions are updated directly and accessible through Newsstand. Newsstand also updates latest editions as a background on your device.

Reminders : As the name suggests it reminds you of the work that you need to get done in a day. It provides you options to make to-do lists with due dates and location. Location because if you are at a supermarket then the feature reminds you of the grocery list you have in your device. This feature also works with iCal, Outlook, and iCloud. The updates are automatically updated to the different devices and calendars.

Twitter : Tweeting from iOS5 promises to be easier than earlier. It will provide you the option to tweet from Safari, Photos, Camera, YouTube, or Maps. Contacts in your device can also be used to tweet or respond to specific people. Additionally, it helps you to let people know the location that the tweet is sent from.

Camera : The camera application will be easily accessible from the Lock screen and provides grid lines, pinch-to-zoom gesture, and single-tap focus and exposure locks. All these features will help you take a photo on the fly. Additionally, you can use the click volume-up to click the photo. The Photo Stream iCloud can automatically be downloaded to other devices.

Photos : Photos on you devices, using the Photos feature can just get better. This feature helps you crop, rotate, enhance and remove red-eye from the pictures that you capture. Additionally, it lets you edit the image without needing to leave the Photos app. Apart from organizing your photo albums, it also allows you to push photos to all devices using iCloud.

Safari : iOS 5 helps bring to you a host of web-browsing features. Safari Readers displays articles without any distractions like adverts and any other clutter details. iCloud updates information across devices; and helps you list articles that you find interesting using the Reading List option. Switching between pages will be made easy and managing different pages seamless.

PC Free : This feature will help you activate and set up your own devices, without the need for a computer to help you through the process. It also helps you download software directly to the device. Additionally, the feature can restore your device automatically using iCloud.

Needless to say, these are just some of the many features that are available in the latest iOS 5. Apart from all the ones listed above. The latest OS also includes a Gaming Center, Wi-Fi Sync, Multitasking Gestures for iPad, AirPlay Mirroring for iPad 2, and other such interesting features.

That said, the announcement did not reveal most of the interesting details of the application itself and what the latest version will have different and the kind of features it will bring to the table. Since the Apple announcement, a lot of speculation has been doing the rounds about the features.

Reports suggest that Twitter’s photo-sharing service announcement is a huge part of the Apple feature. This means that as you have been able to share videos on YouTube, you will be able to share images to Twitter as well. This needless to say will be a big hit for Twitter users, cause they will be finally able to share pictures on Twitter. Additionally, it seems like Apple will aim to make this transition as easy as possible for its users.

It took some time to arrive, yet Google finally added push notification to its latest version of Google Mobile App. Users who want to use Google’s service can now download a new app, called Google Mobile, which actually serves as a mediator between Gmail, Google Calendar, and you. All you need to do is download the “Google Mobile App” from the Apple App Store and you are ready. In other words, this app will notify you when you’ve got new mail in Gmail, and Google Calendar events appear right on your home screen via push notifications.

David Singleton, Engineering Manager at Google wrote –

Ever missed an appointment or important email because you are away from your desk? Now Google Mobile App can help with push notifications from your Google account to your iPhone- an icon badge shows you’ve got new mail in Gmail, and Google Calendar event reminders appear right on your home screen.

In this tutorial we discuss about the easiest method to jailbreak your iPhone into latest 2.2.1 firmware release by the apple.QuickPwn 2.2.5 is the tools that helps in upgrading, jail breaking, and unlocking your Apple iPhone to run a free flow new firmware.Note:All the downloadable files are available at the end of the post.

Follow the procedure:

Start your iTunes and connect your iPhone into it.The it will ask to upgrade your iPhone for firmware to 2.2.1.
Freely upgrade your iPhone from iTunes.(Even if you are using previous jailbreak firmware upgrade it as it will be unlocked later by QuickPwn).QuickPwn changes the firmware settings and doesn’t actually upgrade your iPhone so this process is quit necessary.
After the successful upgrade,You iPhone will be unlocked and here starts the game.
Get the latest version of QuickPwn 2.2.5 QuickPwn for Windows (538) or QuickPwn for Mac (394).
Simply extract the file into a folder and launch the QuickPwn 2.2.5 program.It will ask for connecting your iPhone into your computer via the USB cable. Note:As soon as the blue arrow button glows, click it.
QuickPwn application will auto detect the firmware file(.ipsw extension) downloaded via iTunes.If it doesn’t detect the file then you may download these files from from apple servers.Note: For 2.2 restore firmware ipsw file for 2G iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw / 3G iPhone1,2_2.2.1_5H11_Restore.ipsw
Check the ‘Add Cydia’ and “Add Installer” – If you simply wants to upgrade into latest firmware. Add Unlock also if you also wish to unlock your 2G iPhone.
Just bypass this step if you don’t need any unlocking else NOTE: You need to download following two binaries in case you want to unlock your iPhone.The binaries are as follows:
- Binaries 3.9 (445)
- Binaries 4.6 (418)
Before performing the final action,check again if your iPhone is connected via USB cable.
Caution: Follow the following procedure with precession as any delay results in fail:
1. Hold the Home key for 3-5 seconds
2. Hold both Home key + Power key for 10 seconds
3. Now, release Power key but continue to hold Home key for 30 seconds
4. Note:Don’t forget to hold the Home key for the above 3 steps of jailbreaking.
All done have fun: Check your iPhone screen for the reboot and new motions.
Now your iPhone will be flashed and reloaded with new firmware.
In order to confirm the iPhone version you can also check by opening the iTunes
