With that in mind, Google came up the idea of Gdrive included in Google pack – online file backup and storage service from Google that integrated with Google services like Gmail, Picasa Web Albums, Google Calendars, and many others. GDrive allows you to access your files from anywhere, anytime, and from any device – be it from your desktop, web browser or cellular phone. Google Drive is highly anticipated and expected to be released in 2010 but it will only be an extended version of Google Docs. Instead of sending attachments, you’ll be able to upload files to Google Drive from Gmail.

Also check out other interesting predictions for Google in 2010 listed out by Google Operating System, which is fun to check out. Although there would be more products coming up this year by Google, these 5 are certain to take place. If you predict more launches from Google, then feel free to share with us via comment

Techies or technology geeks share one thing in common. They usually need reliable online tools and apps in order to boost their productivity and make their work easier. If techies have the right recipe of tools and utilities, then their success is fairly guaranteed.

So here are some of the simplest but probably the best technology recipes that every techie should own.

First, every techie should have a ready mix of archive tools (like 7 zip), extractor and computer auditing utilities. Techies work with large files especially when transmitting or receiving development applications. That is why archive and extractor tools are relevant to their work. Auditing utilities on the other hand, will help techies to analyze computer systems, hardware, and software implementations. Here are more than 400 freeware utilities.

Second, techies need desktop optimization tools such as burners (like infrared recorder), readers, and document viewers (Primo Pdf is also used as best alternatives). These utilities can be used so that techies can make their work portable.

A third obvious recipe for making the work of techies simpler is Internet utilities. These include FTP utilities ( like smart ftp, fire ftp , cute ftp ) portable browsers ( firefox, opera, internet explorer, chrome) for diagnosing sites, and TelNet and SSH clients. (like Putty). Moreover browsershots can be used as the best alternative for checking browsers compatibility.

Of course, techies need to face malicious wares and viruses so they need a technology recipe for resolving these issues. So they need a ready mix of malware removal tool, root kit scanner ( like Sophos Anti-Rootkit ), Trojan detectors, and systems and disk cleaners (like Nonags ,CCleaner).

Lastly, techies will need networking and troubleshooting tools. So they should have port scanner, IP configuration tools, and router optimizer. They should also have restore tools in their technology recipe bags in order to troubleshoot problematic computer systems.

I’ll wait for more recommendation of utilities in comments. Moreover if you have any queries or problem the feel free to ask in help center.

The open source community had become a big community in the Internet. These are people who advocate free software and charges only for IT consultations. But you can still earn from using these free software. Here are 10 ways to earn from open source software.

There are companies who favor open source software over commercial ones. A major reason for this is the price of the license.

Open source software developer will be a good source of income.

There are companies who currently use open source for their business. These companies will need people who can maintain and even update their software.

Companies may also need custom made software to meet their business needs. And they often go for open source software. And this will be another opportunity for the open source community to earn money.

Smart phones are growing in popularity these days. Needs for mobile applications are also growing because of this. Mobile application development using open source software is another way to earn good money.

Many companies choose open source Customer Relationship Management or CRM for their websites because it is free. For example sugar crm.

You can create your own open source CRM and offer technical support for a fee.

Online games and PC games are so popular today. You can create games like these using open source software. And selling these games will definitely give you a good income.

You can also publish a social networking website using open source software. Social networking sites open many opportunities to earn money.for example you can use buddypress and bb forums integrations to develop a scaling social application.

If you are someone who has good knowledge about open source software you can put up a blog and put some advertisements in the blog to monetize it.

These are just 10 ways to earn from open source software but if you visit some of the community in the web you can definitely find more ways.

Apart from all the features the best thing that i liked is its scenic and eye catchy GNOME Desktop look which also loads with the following features

A new instant messaging client.

improved file management and toolbars

A built-in time tracker.

A better support for multiple monitor use with the ability to set screen resolution by monitor.

Some of the New Features in Ubuntu 8.10

Gear up for New 3G Support

For constant connectivity public WiFi has limitations. Improvements to the network manager in Ubuntu 8.10 makes it simple to detect and connect to 3G networks and manage connectivity. This connectivity is delivered through an inbuilt 3G modem, through ‘dongle’ support, through a mobile phone or through Bluetooth. It is a complex environment that Ubuntu 8.10 simplifies through a single interface and the auto-detection of many of the most popular devices.

Write Ubuntu to and Install from a USB Drive

In my previous post How to run Linux directly from Windows i post about how to install / Run linux from USB Drive but here in new version of Ubuntu this feature has been made available to users with full portability.A simple application in Ubuntu will allow users to write Ubuntu to a USB drive, even a modified version of Ubuntu with their data on it, so it can be carried everywhere to plug in and use on any machine.

Do you want to run your Linux right from your Windows system? Do you know the exact way of running Linux directly from Windows? If your curiosity needs explanations then here is a free tools named MobaLiveCD that can provide a chilling solutions for your queries.

Why should we use it?

The best reason for using MobaLiveCD is that it can allows you to test your LiveCD with just a single click without the need to burn a CD-Rom or to reboot your computer i.e after downloading the ISO image file of your favourite LiveCD, you just have to start it in MobaLiveCD.

How to run Linux from USD Drive?

It have virtual hard drive management. You can now install your favourite distribution on your virtual drive and carry it and run it from your USB drive.

Linux is the best choice for most of the geek’s,coder and programmers but it lacks some media /multimedia applications, and so come to Windows (and Mac also).I’m a member of many LUG’s (Linux User Groups) and usually uses Ubuntu but when it comes to my profession as designer i went of other operation systems(though sometimes i use gimp, inkscape etc tools on Linux). The best way to use both of them simultaneously is Mobal Live CD which uses its emulator named “Qemu“.With the help of Qemu emulator you can easily run Linux Live-CDs ( iso images ) on your Windows desktop. Here are the basic features of the MobalLiveCD application:

You can use the right-click menu for an easy and fast start
