Personal branding has been one of the biggest trends in 2009 and one that is probably to play an indispensable role in 2010. Yet, even as everyone agrees on its importance and that it is fast growing, very few people could actually master the art. Most people mistake personal branding as to build better product, but it is actually to build better perception of yours among others. That’s because when you are online, your presence is important and people will judge accordingly whether you like it or not. So you really need to care about other’s perception about you as a brand. And most people also think personal branding is difficult, but if you believe in your skills and ability – it becomes easier for you to sell your brand. The basis of personal branding is that success doesn’t come from personal development or hard work. Instead, personal branding proponents claim that success comes from self-packaging with needed skills.

First everyone should understand that personal branding is just not a buzz word or a way for self-promotion today. It is process by which we can market ourselves to other and this can be done not only by famous celebrities, but also by every individual online. In other words, your personal brand is who you are, what you do, and your leading quality in the eyes of your ideal target market. Through social networks or social media you can get in touch with tons of people and this network will help you build your brand. Today there are ton of social media tools available to help you achieve incredible heights in no time and each one should understand the process to master it. With that in mind, honeytechblog today shares Top 10 Things To Do To Master Personal Branding to achieve your desirable success.

1. Select Niche

Personal brand in nutshell, is nothing but who you are and so it becomes important for you to select a niche for your persona. To separate yourself from the rest of the crowd, create your own niche that increases your visibility and preserve your reputation. Your selected niche should involve the application of one’s name to various products. For example, celebrity real-estate mogul Donald Trump uses his last name extensively on his buildings and on the products he endorses (e.g., Trump Steaks). When branding yourself bear in mind that you must create a strong and reliable brand.

2. Identify Your Positives

Never be weak at your mission, you need to build up goals that can be achieved in a particular time. And for that you need to identify your positives and forget what is negative. Set up you goals and write down your mission statement along with a development plan on how to go about. Your statement must tell everyone what you do and who you serve. Note down some inborn skills that match up to your personal mission. Perfect, cultivate and grow these talents to move ahead.

3. Be Precise and Clear

It is obvious that you want all the business you can possibly get your hands on but that is not how to grow a strong and reliable for long time. You need to specialize. You cannot certainly be all things to all people. You must be precise and clear about that one particular niche that will serve your audience neatly. Don’t run behind ten different things and lose your precious clients. Accept the fact, if you might be good at one particular thing and perform that well, so that you never miss any opportunity to grab your audience. It is ok to be narrowed down than to be dumped.

4. Establish Yourself In Chosen Niche

The key to productively branding yourself and doing it successfully is to first establish yourself as an expert in your chosen field. Once you have done that concentrate on who you are and what you stand for within your selected niche. Your next step will be getting the word out through a variety of social media channels that are viewed by the people most likely to be interested in your message.

5. Let People Locate You Easily

Now that you established in your niche, you should allow people to locate you easily. Create social profiles at Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin, blogs and more, so that you are spread all over, so audience can locate you easily. But make sure you maintain your social profiles, otherwise your whole brand can go for a toss. Use business cards and email letters to strength your brand identity. Highlight your personal brand message with professional marketing communications tools. Every email message gives you a direct chance to connect your personal brand with a new company or individual.

6. Build Your Reputation

Building strong reputation is the most important thing you could do to maintain your brand. Create your own personal branding website with your domain name, so that when web surfers and other employers search your name, they get information about your career history, personal information and educations qualifications. Build a solid personal brand with online activities which will further promote your personal mission and emphasize your career success optimistically.

7. Explore Your Audience

Audience is what we need the most to build up personal brands, they are the people that would pay attention to your work and also spread the good work around. So if you trying yourself to wrong hands, and then certainly it will be a waste of time. You must locate what consumers and companies will be interested in what you have to offer. Your audience should be your niche group of people and you must try by all means to give them as much value as you can sooner or later.

8. Locate Your Competitor

This field today is too competitive to rest on your laurels. You should make sure that your name remains in consumers mind when they need you, may be in next six month or later. You cannot assume that they would remain your loyal buyers if you fail to keep your relationship current with them and your competitors will grab your buyer. So locate who is your competitor and stay ahead of them without trying to break their status.

9. Monitor Your Brand

A personal brand is just like an exotic sports car, where you cannot afford to let it run at top speed without any maintenance. If you do so, it would burn itself up. Likewise, in personal branding you got to regularly monitor your brand to keep it relevant, alert, emotionally connected with audience and to be different from the competitor. It is all about seizing every opportunity to meet someone new and maintain the pace with it.

10. Content Is Still The King

People enjoy reading fresh and relevant content, which is unique or in some way special to them. So to do this, you should customize your pitch to fit their preferences. Using social media – Twitter, Facebook or Social bookmarking sites, you can spread your information online and make connection with like-minded people. Write articles and blogs that can augment audience’s knowledge about your brand in the industry.

Of course the most important factor here is trust! You must build trust with your audience, just think about service provider in your own life – be it your manager, your hair stylist or your account – all get your business because they carry good relationship with you, and that counts in so far as the service they provide. Try building personal rapport with the things you and your audience have in common. Bottom line is trust; your consumer/buyer must trust you emphatically!

That said, the announcement did not reveal most of the interesting details of the application itself and what the latest version will have different and the kind of features it will bring to the table. Since the Apple announcement, a lot of speculation has been doing the rounds about the features.

Reports suggest that Twitter’s photo-sharing service announcement is a huge part of the Apple feature. This means that as you have been able to share videos on YouTube, you will be able to share images to Twitter as well. This needless to say will be a big hit for Twitter users, cause they will be finally able to share pictures on Twitter. Additionally, it seems like Apple will aim to make this transition as easy as possible for its users.

Yes, its true that you can send files using TwileShare and it allows users to upload multiple file formats like PNG, GIF, JPG, DOC or PDF files and you can easily share documents, PDFs and ebooks in no time with your friends.

One thing I do not like about this website, is that it is a invitation only applications. As soon as you get invitation, all you have to do is to sign-in using your Twitter account and get started with uploading files. This website offers you 1GB storage space for storing files.

TwileShare is a great app for Twitter which combines power of social networking with Filesharing and easly share files with your friends.

Note: If you find difficulty in managing several twitter accounts at once then you look forward in this post.
SharedMinds is a good tool which offer you to manage all your Twitter account in one single click. Once you sign-in with all your Twitter accounts, all tweets from your friends you’re following on all different multiple accounts will show up in tweet pane and if you want to see activity from single account at a time, then there is no problem you can change the settings easily and view activity from single account.

One of the feature I like about SharedMinds is that when you click on any link, it open website within preview pane itself, means there is no need of browser. SharedMinds offer you to tweet easily, reply to tweet in no time and many other features.

ShareMinds is a great tool and if you have not try it yet, give it a try and share your feedback with us in comment section.

Profile Spy Infection is the new addon in the list of Twitter hijacking apps after auto tweet infection. I noticed this after an infected tweet from @espncricinfo (original/infected tweet is deleted but you can have a look over the captured screenshot).

I was curious to know about Profile Spy so i used one fake account of twitter and try to use this app for measuring the results of the infection. {Yes, i have created one fake account for testing   }

Infected tweet from espncricinfo

Catch: Only 53 people visited the @espncricinfo profile having 87,560 followers? Move into the next screenshot of fake account.

Infected tweet from a dummy account @jessy_spurs

Catch: 32 people visited the profile having 14 followers?

Conclusion

So 53 people visited @espncricinfo having 87,560 followers and 32 people visited @jessy_spurs having 14+ followers, its completely a Spam! Move on Guys!

Don’t allow this app with your twitter credentials

Evolution is what languages today believe in and this holds especially true ever since internet is in use. Various associations came up with their own argot and further popular sites came up with their own terminology. But all this while it was just fenced to their site and now some of the most popular words are finding place in Oxford Dictionary.

The third edition of Oxford English Dictionary, which was initially released in 1998 has come up with 2,000 new words, many of which are motivated by web industry and its communities. That is how words like Tweetup (Generally referred to meeting people you know from on Twitter)– organized via Twitter has been added to Oxford Dictionary of English. Other word inspired by web, or technology today is “Paywall” (means restricting content on a website or subscriber) has also been added.

The vuvuzela, the horn instrument which became the sound of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, has won an entry in the latest edition of the Oxford English Dictionary. The credit crunch has also contributed a number of words, including “overleveraged”, meaning having too much debt, and “quantitative easing”, meaning when the central bank introduces new money into the financial system.

The rise of “social media” has also been duly charted by the dictionary, with the term itself making an appearance, along with “defriend”, meaning to remove a contact on a social networking site. On the fun part it also included terms such as “chillax” – to chill or calm down and relax – and “bromance”, a close but non-sexual relationship between two men.

Other words include:

Buzzkill: a person or thing that has a depressing or dispiriting effect
Cheeseball: lacking taste, style or originality
Frenemy: a person with whom one is friendly despite a fundamental dislike or rivalry
Interweb: the internet
Wardrobe malfunction: an instance of a person accidentally exposing an intimate part of their body as a result of an article of clothing slipping out of position.

The super-excellent micro-blogging platform Twitter is making lot of hires to support its advertising model. Adding up this Twitter this week announced that it is making two new hires that should prove essential to its fledgling, ad-based business model — people to sell the ads.

According to Advertising Age, Twitter has hired Dan Coughlin, the former director of media sales at Facebook for the post of director of ad sales for East. Amanda Levy, who was the first ad-sales person at well-known site Yelp, for the post of sales director in Western region. These two major hires have been made to expand Twitter’s ad offering which is called as Promoted Suite.

“We’re putting together a top-flight sales team as we begin to open our Promoted Suite of products to more companies,” said Dick Costolo, Twitter’s chief operating officer, in an emailed statement.

Twitter started rolling out its ads service earlier this year, with Promoted Tweets and later Promoted Trends. Twitter began rolling out its promoted products earlier this year, with Promoted Tweets and later Promoted Trends. These products let advertisers to pay for tweets they choose to show up at the top of search results, or for topics to show up as trending. All of these include little logos indicating that they are advertisements.

Twitter is yet to spot someone who was never left tweaked and completely twitted. Definitely the interesting news across the micro blogging services around the internet globe is Re-tweet. Sneak past to know more on the new tweet.

Re-Tweet, what’s that?

It’s the kinda message tweeted or generally posted on the twitter (which is our micro blogging service), that duplicates certain info that’s been posted by another micro-blogger, hence the individual posting the already tweeted info over again can be tagged a Re-tweeter.

Usually something spoken over by many people, at times triggers to be a factual act of things that is happening around you. Yet another product that survives on this principle of repetitive or recurrent information is RE-TWEET. Posting over an already tweeted info over and over is simply the RE-TWEET. The video below clearly explains how to re-tweet on Twitter

What prompts someone to be Re-TWEETER?

Usually, Re-tweet has become a common form of spreading the information across the over-laid social online groups. But the reason of motivation for a re-tweetist is just that, any News with a bit of personnel touch spices up the news further beyond the sensation the news itself has managed to gain. Sure, Repetition hammers the nail further in the skull, the same hangs over to the Re-Tweet too.

How to spot a Re-Tweet?

You can find several form of re-tweet’s across the board, a few of them will use the form “re-tweet @username”, or “via @username”, positioning it either before or after the re-tweeted discussion.

Easy to-do steps to start-up with functional Re-tweet:

Quick start your life as a twitter bee at Twitter.com

Spot the tweet that interests you, because it’s required for you to follow some users to start off with.

Copy the text of the info or the Tweet that interested you, ensure you willfully grab the attention of the user from whom you just grabbed your info for re-Tweet.

Then wriggle back to your homepage, and post it within the big Text box positioned at the top. Like “re-tweet @username”, where “Username” is the user you copied your info for Re-Tweet.

Click Submit, and call yourself a proud “Re-tweeter”.

So what are you waiting for, follow us on Twitter and start re-tweeting!
