Update: New additions

Yahoo meme

yahoo-me-me

Yahoo recently launches the micro blogging platforms to compete with twitter. Yahoo meme is available for Portuguese only. It consists of features like publishing of images and video but lacks the features like music and API’s. Applications developers will miss the lack of API in Yahoo meme and i hope Yahoo will implement it soon. Yahoo meme is still in beta and we hope for many upcoming features from it.

Note: Besides the above clones if you find any other then please feel free to post it here via comments.

    shit
this is such a huge list,
I never thought of that much clones of twitter.
awesome to find the huge list of a particular service.

  2. Man imagine , How much time it would have taken to make that list :D

  3. @Gaurav
Actually i was thinking of a clone site then it takes few’s days to collect the data from different sites and search engines. Now i don’t think its good to increase the above mention list.
    :)

  4. Awesome effort my friend. You deserved a pat on the back for compiling such a huge list.

  5. Calling Jaiku a Twitter ‘clone’ is stretching it a bit. Given that Jaiku is older than Twitter. It is Twitter like, in the sense that Jaiku can do what Twitter can (as well as a lot more), but that is where the comparison ends.

  6. @Ton Zijlstra
First of all thanks for this info,
Secondly,Jaiku may be older than twitter but it is some how similar with twitter. Now twitter is 800% popular than Jaiku and its the end of comparison , stating Jaiku to be brother clone like that of twitter.

  7. Is 250 enough? Freak! Just Twitter makes me waste a lot of time, a few more and I’ll be dead. But thanks for compiling anyway!

  8. see in romania also – businesscafe.ro

  9. @bagatare si punct ro
Thanks for adding a new site from
    romania.
    Its added on the list

  10. Funny list!

  11. First off, re Jaiku: Twitter has a huge number of members compared to Jaiku because the latter has had closed signups ever since being acquired by Google. Twitter’s signup form has remained open to all during that time.

Now, there are some entries in your list that bug me. First are the duplicates; I have seen, for example, both http://www.blogthot.com and blogthot.com. Also, some sites like Yelp (a local-business review site) are not at all similar to Twitter.

That said, the list is still mind-boggling, and I appreciate the amount of effort it must have taken to put together. Cheers!

PS: Be sure to thank @biz; he tweeted the link that brought me here.

  12. shamefully list clone, :D

i guarantee that one from indonesia will down in a few month

  13. I know it’s confusing, but although we speak Dutch, the country is called “The Netherlands”. So there are no twitter clones “from dutch”.

  14. @Panman
Thanks for the info about the Dutch-Netherlands, I updated the post with your reference.
Feel free to bother in case of any confusions..

  15. Language-centric offerings make a TON of sense. As a matter of fact, it’s optimal.

  16. 250 clones, but how many are domestic (US) or English speaking? And how many aggregators are there that connect these and enable you to shoot out your posts to multiple sites at the same time.

I am presently using Ping.fm and Hellotxt.com, both of which have much duplication on them.

Are there other aggregators anyone can recommend?

  17. @Narayanan Hariharan
<<em>Freak! Just Twitter makes me waste a lot of time, a few more and I’ll be dead>
    lolz !!
Quite agree with you.Its a waste of time unless and untill you are not interested in social-networking and brand marketing.
This is the only reason why most of the users from twitter are Geek or into marketing fields .
Anyway you may joing me on twitter via
    http://twitter.com/honeytech

  18. @bloginmano
Thanks for the info Italy clones are also included into the lists.
Have a look and l'me know.

  19. <Twitter has a huge number of members compared to Jaiku because the latter has had closed signups ever since being acquired by Google.>

Thanks for info that Jaiku is acquired by Google!

    <I have seen, for example, both http://www.blogthot.comand blogthot.com. >

Thanks again the list is corrected now.

I'll be glad to get more assistance from you.

    Thank You

  20. @minaube
    <shamefully list clone,>
Hey bro most the clones here are money minded biased set-ups.
<i guarantee that one from indonesia will down in a few month >
Yeah, these are just script and still can solve the aim of the owners of the sites i.e "to earn money".

  21. @Dave King

I agree that Ping.fm and Hellotxt.com have partially same concept but the things is that who constructs their concept first.

Now a days most of the web 2.0 stuff are similar to each other.Right from the design to backend. For example:-

Design: Web 2.0 means a mirror effect to the logos and have blogs.

Back-end:Most of the lower start-ups are collection of different php script.

Conclusion: I don't say "all the stuff are copied" but i want to say "their is some lack of innovative ideas".

Note: Above are my personal think ,feel free to condemned me.

  22. @Jeff Bundy

Localization of any thing is quite handsome work but is it ok to clone the whole functionality?

I have no problem if it is something like Kwipy (http://www.kwippy.com).Kwipyhave lots of other features that even twitter don't have.

  23. wishing u a very happy n prosperous new year… :D

  24. @harsh
    same 2 you dude.
hope you have the rocking party bash . :P

  25. lol.. dis list showcases a pretty dubious record!

  26. @Anunay
Could you please identify any dubious site here?
If yes, then i’m waiting for your reply.
    Thanks in advance.

  27. Yo … http://www.pacmee.com is from Germany, but from Malaysia. How are they similiar to twitter? I don’t know. As far as I know, twitter doesn’t support MMS or has any mobile video sharing capabilities.

  28. @Ray
The list above are based on the basic concept “what you are doing?”
You are write many websites have some extra features like commenting features,MMS and the way status is showing but the theme and concept is based on the twitter.
    Why only twitter?
many sites are launched before twitter but in the end twitter is the only popular one. This is the reason why they are compared with it and tagged with the clone concept.

  29. From India http://gtalkbots.com
    I run this service :P

  30. This is a crazy! I never thought there is such a huge list, just wonder how difficult for you to compile this list. Awesome! Twitter is not the most pioneer, I wonder how come they most famous today?

  31. This is really interesting. Thanks for such a great post!

  32. This is a HUGE list!

I wonder if there is enough users for all of these.

    Thanks for sharing anyways. :)

  33. Nice Collection.thanks!!

  53. Romania, not Rumania

  54. Thanks leo for pointing out.
Your concern in “twitter clones list” is edited now :)

    Source Says:

English uses both forms, Rumanian and Romanian, to denote the Romance-speaking population in the South-Eastern Europe north of the Danube, which was traditionally referred as Vlachs (or Wallachians). Both forms were adopted by the mid 19th century when the principalities of Wallachia and Moldova were unified to form a new state, Rumania or Romania. The forms Rumania and Rumanian were prevailing till the second half of the 20th century, when the forms with “o” gradually became more popular.
